This product arrived before Xmas with about 1cm of glue on the chain by the center, front of neck pearl, which glued the chain straight, thus making the necklace hang weird. Upon inspection of the glue, the chain fell apart in my hands (the glue had been keeping the chain together). OK, that stinks, but PearlsOnly has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, right? Incorrect!
Their “guarantee” covers most everything except broken items. Oh, before I get on that, there is NO telephone support. The phone number just goes to an answering machine that tells you to go to the website or send an email. So after getting an RMA number (their customer service only responds in the middle of the night, as I suppose they are in China. . . BTW, the package was shipped directly from China), I sent the package back and waited. About two weeks later, I emailed for an update and received this. . .
“Hello and thank you for writing in!
Regrettably our QC experts have deemed your return unacceptable because all of our pearl items have to go though Quality Control for at least two times before they are shipped. Glue is to fix the pearls onto the chain. Please let us know if you wish us to send this item back to you or discard it.
Please let us know if we can be of any further help. ”
Discard it!?! Are you kidding me? Sure, just throw away a supposedly $300 necklace. Anyway, after some serious pressure and four days later, I got a answer that the “VP” had approved my return. About a week later, I received my replacement, but it just came in the “protective” cloth bag inside a padded envelope. . . not quite enough protection in my opinion to make the trip from China.
That said, the pearl quality of my replacement is not nearly as excellent as the original. There is a significant gouge on one pearl (possibly from shipping) and what appears to be paint splotches on several more.
I don’t really know how fantastic PearlsOnly prices are compared with other jewelers, but no matter the discount, they are not worth the hassle to deal with. Beware!
